Pascale Champagne: Research

Waste Stabilization Ponds

Projects Established at Queen's University

In 2012, a northern studies collaboration was established between researchers at Dalhousie University (Drs. R. Jamieson, C. Lake, L. Truelstrup-Hansen, G. Gagnon and B. Hall) and Queen’s University (Drs. P. Champagne and G. Hall), for the design and optimization of waste stabilization ponds (WSPs) for remote, Northern Communities. This 3-year Canadian Water Network (CWN) funded project aims to advance the basic understanding of biological and chemical processes occurring within passive waste stabilization ponds in the High Arctic.
